Our goal is to provide a caring environment where children can gain access to the highest level, state-of-the-art, medical and surgical care. Unfortunately, the children who usually need eye care the most are those usually unable to obtain it. This includes something as minor as needing glasses to requiring complex eye muscle surgery. In this clinic, we see patients who are underinsured, uninsured, or otherwise unable to pay for pediatric ophthalmology services. Fellows in pediatric ophthalmology staff the clinic with supervision.
The Pediatric Eye Clinic for low-income families now has over 1,000 patient visits each year. Children are referred to the clinic by the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center COACH for Kids program, Venice Free Clinic, Vista Del Mar Child and Family Clinic, Child Sight Los Angeles - Helen Keller International, and from the Los Angeles
community in general, including surrounding areas such as Ventura, Orange, Santa Barbara and Riverside Counties. International patients with severe eye problems come world-wide for special eye care and surgery. Our Pediatric Eye Clinic has become a critical resource for our low-income families in Southern California regionally and an important option for children world wide.
